This week we did a lot of little things like touch up paint, add hardware, baseboards and light fixtures…But y’all we made our own sink and it’s the bomb (do people say “the bomb” anymore?)…it’s the icing on the cake, the cherry on top, the beez kneez! It’s all the things and if you can’t tell, I’m crazy about it and so proud of it! Isn’t that the thing with DIYs? You just have so much heart put into the pieces of your home and a sense of pride.  I wouldn’t say making the sink was hard, but it was a bit of a process that involves some patience as you wait for things to dry. It was also very affordable, so take that Pottery Barns $2,299 concrete sink! We are going to need to recruit some extra muscle to move it, because oh my is it heavy! So if you dare…and you most certainly should, check out the tutorial that the handsome, handy Al Guy wrote up!
So now that the sink is made and ready to install. The plumbing should be easy right, there’s already the water to the washer and our master vanity on the other side of the wall that we can tap into.  We had to rip out quite a bit of the drywall and it took quite a bit of time to map the piping. There were a few moments we thought it would be impossible to do. In the end Alan (as always) was able to figure out the best route to go and it will work out….at the cost of my poor wall.

We also put light fixtures up. I am pretty stoked about our $2 light from Restore! We needed 2 lights in laundry room so we ordered a similar one on ebay for $14 and bought an extra globe at Restore for $2 as well. I just spray painted the base a satin black and the globes speak for themselves.

Alan has been using dowel pins for awhile for projects, so it’s about time I learned how to as well. And guess what? I really enjoyed putting dowel pins in our countertop. Now I am wondering what next project I can start that requires dowel pins? You can check out a tutorial on dowel pins in our table tutorial. I still need to put that front trim and attach it to the wall.

The feedback I got from my stories was that the rug I purchased was too small. Thanks to an awesome recommendation from Savoring_home I am now on the hunt for a vintage rug on ebay. Y’all, people are intense with the bidding. One minute I’m freaking out and praying that someone will out bid a few of my rugs, because I got too excited and bid on 6 rugs…but little did I know I had nothing to worry about. Literally with a second left someone would out bid me each time. Since then, I have put a bid on countless rugs only to get out bid the last second by $1.  So say a little prayer for me that I’m able to out click/bid on at least one perfect rug!

Only 2 weeks left, will we finish on time? It’s a mystery to even me.
